About This Race
The 6-mile distance doubles the commitment of the shorter option, requiring runners to complete two full loops of Tranquility's rolling terrain and experience how the course changes as morning progresses into midday. This distance suits runners seeking a solid training effort or those stepping up from the 3-mile option who want to test their endurance on technical trail features over multiple circuits. The second loop presents a different mental challenge as familiar sections become more demanding with accumulated fatigue, making this the ideal choice for runners building toward longer trail distances.
The course begins at Redbud Pavilion with a brief 0.4-mile warm-up loop along Tranquility Road around the BMX track to spread out the field before entering singletrack trails. Runners then wind through wooded sections before emerging near the Oak Mountain State Park cabins, crossing Cabin Road, and tackling a moderate climb before following the trail back toward the BMX area to finish at Redbud Pavilion. The 3-mile runners complete one loop, while 6-mile participants continue directly into the woods for a second lap without repeating the initial road section. Each loop features approximately 450 feet of elevation gain on well-maintained trails suitable for trail running newcomers.

Notable Features
As the kickoff event for the Southeastern Trail Series, the Tranquility Trail Run prioritizes community building and accessibility over pure competition. The scenic loop around Tranquility Lake provides an ideal introduction to trail running without overwhelming technical challenges.
