The 3-mile distance offers newcomers to trail running an approachable introduction to off-road terrain without the endurance demands of the longer option. Runners can focus on learning trail techniques and enjoying the natural setting rather than managing energy over extended mileage. This distance suits those building confidence on trails, returning from injury, or simply wanting a shorter adventure that still delivers the full trail experience.

6 miles
The course begins at Redbud Pavilion with a brief 0.4-mile warm-up loop along Tranquility Road around the BMX track to spread out the field before entering singletrack trails. Runners then wind through wooded sections before emerging near the Oak Mountain State Park cabins, crossing Cabin Road, and tackling a moderate climb before following the trail back toward the BMX area to finish at Redbud Pavilion. The 3-mile runners complete one loop, while 6-mile participants continue directly into the woods for a second lap without repeating the initial road section. Each loop features approximately 450 feet of elevation gain on well-maintained trails suitable for trail running newcomers.
