About This Race
A 44K trail run, Ayder.
The route departs Ayder at approximately 1,200 meters elevation, following well-worn transhumance paths that have connected valley settlements to high pastures for generations. Runners navigate through dense Caucasian fir and spruce forests before breaking into alpine meadows where traditional stone shepherd shelters dot the landscape. The course incorporates stream crossings, rocky ridgeline sections, and passages through terrain where visibility can shift rapidly with weather changes common to this coastal mountain range.
