About This Event
The Scenic Rim Ultra stands as one of Australia's most challenging trail running events, set in the rugged landscapes of Queensland's Scenic Rim region. Located just an hour south of Brisbane, this demanding race traverses four mountains, the Dugandan Range, and Wyaralong Dam across terrain that includes dirt roads, technical singletrack, and dense forest sections. The course presents over 4000 meters of elevation gain across its longest distances, featuring punishing mountain climbs, relentless ridgelines, and technical descents. Runners navigate through private trails not typically open to the public, encounter diverse terrain including farmland crossings, and experience what organizers describe as some of Queensland's most spectacular mountain scenery. While the event is known for its toughness, it maintains generous cut-off times and comprehensive support throughout the course. The loop format starts and finishes at Lilybrook Recreation Area on Beaudesert Boonah Road, providing an ideal base for crews and spectators to support runners across multiple distance options.
