About This Event
Nestled in the heart of Victoria's Otway Ranges, Run Forest Trail Run offers runners access to some of Australia's most picturesque forest trails. The 14th annual event takes place in the township of Forrest, where dense fern gullies, flowing rivers, and the cool mountain air of the Otway Ranges create an ideal winter trail running environment. The race follows the famous Red Carpet trail, a dynamic singletrack beloved by mountain bikers for its technical sections and fast corners. Runners experience the mystical beauty of running under the Otway forest canopy, with the course weaving through tight, off-cambered turns and undulating terrain that showcases the region's natural beauty. The race village sits on the banks of the Barwon River, providing a scenic start and finish for all distances.

The first half of the 10K course, this circuit runs along the Barwon River to Fernery Trail and across the top of the West Barwon Dam. The route includes a big hill descent back to the village, providing a taste of the technical terrain in a shorter format.
