Rafferty's Coastal Run offers trail runners a distinctive journey through New South Wales' Lake Macquarie region, where calm lakeside paths give way to rugged coastal terrain. Starting from the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie at Rafferty's Resort, the course winds through Wallarah National Park, showcasing the dramatic contrast between serene lake views and the wild coastline of historic Catherine Hill Bay and Munmorah State Conservation Area. The terrain is notably varied, featuring bushland singletrack, fire trails, coastal tracks, rock platforms, and beach running. Runners traverse everything from peaceful lakeside sections to exhilarating rock platform stretches where waves crash alongside the trail.
