About This Event
Set in the heart of the Apuan Alps, the Piglione Trail offers runners a chance to explore one of Italy's most dramatic mountain landscapes. The event takes place in the Pescaglia region near Lucca, where ancient trails wind through 14 traditional villages and reach the summit of Monte Piglione, providing stunning views of both mountains and sea. The race showcases the authentic character of Tuscany's mountainous interior, connecting historic settlements through a network of sentieri and mulattiere (mountain paths and mule tracks). With three distinct distances, the event caters to trail runners seeking everything from an introduction to mountain running to a serious ultra-distance challenge in semi-autonomous conditions. This seventh edition maintains the event's commitment to environmental responsibility, requiring runners to carry their own cups and following Leave No Trace principles. The October timing captures the region at its most beautiful, with mild temperatures and clear mountain air creating ideal conditions for exploring these ancient Apuan pathways.
