About This Race

Perpetua Coast showcases Oregon's coastal splendor across two racing days in the scenic village of Yachats and Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area. Saturday's 50K and 20-mile lollipop-loop courses climb to the highest viewpoint on the Oregon Coast, offering panoramic vistas of 70 miles of shoreline from 800 feet above the Pacific. Sunday's point-to-point half marathon and 10K provide a more accessible introduction to the region's diverse terrain. The courses weave through temperate rainforest draped in moss, across sandy beaches, along rocky shoreline bluffs, and up to dramatic headland vistas. This variety of classic Oregon Coast scenery creates a compelling sense of discovery that has drawn runners back since the event's inception in 2014. Previously known as the Oregon Coast trail runs under Rainshadow Running, the event was reimagined by Daybreak Racing to preserve this beloved coastal running tradition. The race honors the indigenous Alsea peoples who maintained these lands for over 6,000 years, calling the Cape Perpetua area Halaqaik, meaning "the uncovered place." Modern runners experience the same dramatic landscape that the Alsea carefully stewarded, from ocean-level trails to the commanding heights of Cape Perpetua.

The Saturday courses feature lollipop-loop designs that showcase the full spectrum of Oregon Coast terrain. Runners begin in the coastal village of Yachats before ascending through moss-draped old growth rainforest to reach Cape Perpetua's 800-foot summit, the highest viewpoint on the Oregon Coast. The descent offers stunning ocean vistas and access to rocky shoreline sections and sandy beaches.

Sunday's point-to-point races provide a different perspective, with shuttle transport to elevated starting points and scenic descents toward the ocean finish. All courses traverse the diverse ecosystems of the Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area, from dense temperate rainforest to exposed coastal headlands, creating an immersive experience in one of Oregon's most scenic regions.
