About This Event
The Peak District Birthday Bash began as a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the UK's first National Park and has evolved into a regular fixture on the trail running calendar. Based in the historic village of Castleton, this event showcases the varied landscapes of the Peak District through spectacular routes that wind through remote and challenging terrain. The event welcomes both runners and hikers, emphasizing adventure over pure competition. Participants must be prepared for self-navigation across well-trodden paths without course marking, carrying printed maps and relying on detailed route instructions and GPX files. The terrain can be demanding both in terms of hills and underfoot conditions, requiring experience with long-distance off-road challenges. Supported by the enthusiastic Blinding Peakers volunteer team and featuring well-stocked aid stations, the Birthday Bash combines professional event organization with a celebratory atmosphere. All finishers receive a wooden memento, and the event supports both Peak Running's community work and the Peak District National Park Foundation Charity.
