About This Event

The P-Weg Marathon in Plettenberg stands as a unique celebration of endurance sports in Germany's Sauerland region. First held in 2004 under the motto "Plettenberger für Plettenberg," this completely volunteer-organized event has grown into a distinctive multi-sport festival that combines running, walking, and cycling disciplines across a weekend in September. The event's signature feature is the P-Weg itself, a circular route that encircles the city of Plettenberg while traversing four valleys and their surrounding hills. What sets this marathon apart is its no-repeat philosophy—no meter of the course is covered twice, with the start and finish located just a few hundred meters apart in Plettenberg's city center. Saturday is dedicated to runners and walkers across half marathon, marathon, and ultramarathon distances, while Sunday belongs to cyclists. The celebration culminates with each finisher being honored on stage before the enthusiastic Plettenberg crowd, creating a community atmosphere that reflects the event's volunteer spirit and local pride.
