About This Event
The Marlborough Downs Challenge offers runners the chance to explore the beautiful North Wessex Downs across two trail distances, both following scenic tracks and footpaths through some of Wiltshire's finest countryside. The races are mostly off-road and designed for runners looking to transition to longer distance running, taking participants through diverse terrain that includes the Wansdyke Path, Tan Hill Way, White Horse Trail, and Mid Wilts Way. Both routes showcase the region's natural and historical highlights, passing through West Woods with its wild garlic displays, ascending two of Wiltshire's highest points at Knapp Hill and Tan Hill, and traversing the prehistoric stone circle at Avebury with views of Silbury Hill. The courses wind through rolling countryside before finishing back at Marlborough Leisure Centre, where runners can enjoy showers and refreshments after their journey through this ancient landscape.
