About This Event
Hornsjön Runt takes runners on a journey around Öland's only inland lake, offering a uniquely diverse trail experience on Sweden's second-largest island. The course showcases the varied landscapes that define Öland's natural character, from gravel roads surfaced with local limestone to grass paths, cow pastures, deciduous and coniferous forests, and distinctive sand dunes. Now in its 49th year, this community-focused event combines competitive racing with recreational options, including a walking class for those preferring a more leisurely pace around the lake. The race features comprehensive youth categories alongside the main adult distances, creating a true family-friendly atmosphere. All finishers receive medals, with prizes awarded to the top three in each category plus numerous raffle prizes. The event takes place at Pensionat Hornsjön, with shower and changing facilities available at nearby Högby Sports Ground. The race's longevity and community support reflect its role as a cherished annual tradition on Öland, bringing together runners from across Sweden to experience this distinctive island landscape.
