About This Event
The Holy Trail Ultras take runners through the medieval and holy landscapes of East Anglia, following ancient paths that connect Britain's most easterly point to some of Suffolk's most sacred sites. The routes incorporate sections of the Via Beata, a remarkable trail linking Ness Point in Lowestoft to St David's in Wales, while showcasing the wild beauty of Blythburgh marshes and the Suffolk coastal path. The event celebrates the region's rich ecclesiastical heritage, passing the impressive Holy Trinity Church at Blythburgh—known as the cathedral of the marshes—and Covehithe's unique church within a church. Runners experience diverse terrain from coastal paths and marshlands to historic market towns, with the jewel of the Suffolk coast, Southwold, serving as a highlight along the way. Boghopper Races designed these courses to be beginner-friendly with achievable cutoffs and relaxed race atmosphere, encouraging first-time ultra runners to tackle what might seem unachievable. The event supports multiple charitable causes while showcasing some of England's most unspoilt countryside in the heart of East Anglia.
