Footprints in the Sand Fun Run and Half Marathon

About This Event

The Footprints in the Sand Fun Run offers a unique beach running experience along the hard-packed sands of Foxton Beach, New Zealand. Hosted annually by the Lions Club of Foxton, this March event combines the challenge of beach running with the community spirit of small-town New Zealand fundraising. Runners of all abilities can choose from three distances, all following the same scenic route north along the coastline to designated turnaround points. The event features a distinctive beach start and finish line positioned directly in front of the Surf Club Building, creating an authentic coastal atmosphere that sets it apart from traditional road races. What makes this event particularly special is its community focus and tight scheduling around tidal constraints. All participants must complete their chosen distance by 11am due to tide conditions, adding an element of natural timing to the race. The event includes a Primary School Team Challenge and concludes with prizegiving featuring numerous spot prizes, with every finisher receiving a medal regardless of their chosen distance.
