About This Event
The Lions Club of Foxton hosts this annual beach running event each March on the hard-packed sands of Foxton Beach, New Zealand. With three distances ranging from 5K to half marathon, the race offers runners the unique experience of running along the coastline with the start and finish line positioned directly in front of the Surf Club Building. This community-focused event serves as a fundraiser for local causes, with proceeds supporting organizations like the Foxton Beach volunteer fire brigade. The race format accommodates both runners and walkers across all distances, creating an inclusive atmosphere that welcomes participants of varying abilities. A Primary School Team Challenge adds a youth component to the event, engaging local schools in the running community. The race operates under tide constraints, requiring all participants to finish by 11am, which adds a distinctive coastal element to the event planning and execution.
