About This Event
The Dragon Coastal Races bring the Wales Coast Path to life through three legendary ultramarathons that showcase the stunning Welsh coastline. These races offer clear, non-technical trails that let runners focus on the journey and views while tackling everything from golden beaches and steep sand dunes to shifting shingle and coastal cliffs. All three distances converge on a memorable finish at Cardiff Bay, with the final push across the Cardiff Bay Barrage ending at the Captain Scott Memorial and the iconic Norwegian Church. The routes are designed for both first-time ultra runners and those chasing personal bests, offering fast and beautiful coastal running at its finest. While the trails may be non-technical, the Dragon doesn't give up its treasures easily. Runners will face challenging terrain including the sprawling 840-acre Merthyr Mawr dune system—home to the UK's highest sand dune—and for the 100-mile runners, leg-burning climbs through Afan Forest in the darkness of night.
