About This Event

The Chiemgauer100 StundenRunden brings the increasingly popular backyard ultra format to the Bavarian Alps region of Germany. Set in Bergen near the Chiemsee, this 24-hour event follows the classic "last runner standing" principle where participants complete 6.7-kilometer loops every hour on the hour until they can no longer finish within the 60-minute cutoff. The race operates from the Bergen public pool facility, providing excellent infrastructure for runners and support crews throughout the demanding 24-hour window. The social atmosphere is a key element of the event, with ample opportunity for conversation and camaraderie between hourly starts. Both individual and team competitions are available, with special recognition for runners completing 15 rounds (100.5 kilometers) and the full 24 rounds (160.8 kilometers, equivalent to 100 miles). This event represents the organizers' adaptation to increasingly restrictive permitting for long-distance trail events in the region, offering an alternative format that maintains the challenge and community spirit of ultra running while operating within a controlled loop system.
