About This Event

The Bogong to Hotham "Rooftop Run" stands as one of Australia's most challenging and historic trail races, traversing the spectacular Victorian High Country across what locals call the rooftop of Australia. This iconic event, which celebrated its 33rd running in 2024, has returned to its grass roots format while maintaining its reputation as one of the toughest mile-for-mile races in the country. The course takes runners on an epic journey from Mountain Creek Campground up Victoria's highest mountain, Mt Bogong, before descending and climbing again to reach the Bogong High Plains. The route continues across the high plains, through the main aid station at Langford Gap, before the final challenge of climbing to the finish at Mt Hotham summit. The race demands not just physical preparation but also navigation skills and proper gear for the alpine environment. With its rich history embedded in Australian trail running folklore, Bogong to Hotham offers runners spectacular views, technical terrain, and a genuine test of endurance across some of the country's most dramatic mountain landscapes. The event maintains strict entry requirements to ensure runner safety, assessing trail experience, endurance capabilities, and pace before accepting entrants.
