About This Event
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Mt Beerwah in Queensland's Glass House Mountains National Park, this early morning trail race offers runners the chance to experience one of Australia's most distinctive volcanic landscapes. The event takes place at the base of Mt Beerwah, known to local Aboriginal people as the pregnant mother of the Glass House Mountains, with runners starting in darkness to witness the sunrise over this ancient geological formation. The race celebrates both the natural beauty and cultural significance of the region, where Aboriginal storytelling speaks of Tibrogargan as the father, Beerwah as the pregnant mother, and Coonowrin as the son in the Glass House Mountains creation story. The challenging terrain and unpredictable conditions make this event suitable for runners of all abilities, from beginners to elite competitors. With its environmental focus including a no-cup policy at aid stations and emphasis on Leave No Trace principles, Beerwah@Daybreak represents the growing movement of sustainable trail racing. The remote location at the end of Mount Beerwah Road requires careful planning, but rewards participants with an intimate racing experience in one of Queensland's most spectacular national parks.
