Set within the 2,000-acre Holdenby Estate in Northamptonshire, this event offers runners a unique opportunity to explore the grounds of a 16th-century palace with deep royal history. The estate served as a residence to King James I and later as a prison to his son King Charles I following his defeat in the Civil War, now functioning as a family home with gardens beloved by visitors. The traffic-free 5.4-kilometer trail winds through the estate grounds and surrounding farmland, providing runners with spectacular views of the historic country house. The course culminates with a memorable finish through the iconic arches that grace the estate, creating a distinctive and photogenic conclusion to each lap. For runners who enjoy sharing their miles with canine companions, the event includes a dedicated 5K canicross option that starts 15 minutes before the main race. All participants receive custom-designed medals and goodies, while the event supports Alzheimer's Research UK as its partner charity.
